Summer is here, and with it comes many things that make it hard to get the dogs out for a hunt. For myself, it is a combination of heat and baby animals everywhere that make most of the time I spend with my dogs this time of year either playing or training in the back yard. I love the warm, dry summers, but I yearn for the cool days of fall when I can get the dogs in the woods and fields to hunt without any of us getting heat stroke. I also don’t want them getting a hold of a fawn or a covey of young quail or pheasants. We do get the occasional turkey that somehow gets into the yard before the dogs notice it, and they will tree it in a hurry, which ads some excitement around here! Dad picked up a roadkill squirrel the other day and took it home to work with Millie a bit, then I brought it home and did some drags for Peaches and Willow Enjoy the articles! GOOD HUNTING!
