Code of Ethics

This Code of Ethics is established to set a standard of acceptable behavior for the Decker Hunting Terrier Registry members and promote the objectives of our founders. The Code is designed to protect the integrity and serve as guidelines of the Registry.

I will make reasonable effort within my breeding program to minimize the occurrence of known genetic abnormalities.

I will not knowingly breed any dog that does not possess good hunt and then register their off spring as a Decker Hunting Terrier or Decker Hunting Stock.

I will keep accurate breeding records, registration papers, pedigrees and sales of all my Decker Hunting Terrier and or Decker Hunting Stock.

I will not falsify a dogs paperwork and will provide all promised paperwork by the age of 12 weeks to the new owner.

I will not knowingly breed a female to more than one stud dog during the same breeding cycle that produces a litter of unidentifiable parentage.

I will furnish accurate records to each buyer, including all veterinary examinations, vaccinations, parasite treatments, pedigree and registration or transfer documents, unless written agreement is made at the time of sale that papers will be withheld.

I will be honest and ethical in my financial dealings with buyers.

I will maintain a safe, clean and sanitary facility for all stud dogs, bitches, adult dogs for sale and puppies for sale.

I will always breed for quality in my dogs, concentration always being on producing a dog that meets the guidelines and has proper temperament for the Decker Hunting Terrier or Decker Hunting Stock.

I will not breed any male or female until they are both physically and mentally mature, and I will not continue to breed any male or female beyond an appropriate age for the breed

I understand that breaking of any code of ethics is grounds for removal from the DHTR Registry
